Make file extension visible

2:51 pm

Some viruses masquerade as harmless file type by adding a bogus extension near the end of their name , as in "cartoon.jpg.exe". Hopes your system is set to hide such extensions (default in windows XP and 2000) so in the case of this, you only see "cartoon.jpg" rather than "cartoon.jpg.exe".

To show files extension in windows........
Open windows explorer -> Click Tools -> Folder options ->View.

Ensure that the option "Hide file extension for known file types" is unchecked.
